A Monster Truck show can be amazing fun for the entire family. You don’t get to see oversized trucks racing and crushing one another very often. It can be visually spectacular. The music, ambiance and raw smells add an impressive entertainment value you won’t get from any other event. It’s hard to compare what you’ll get from a single Monster Truck racing ticket to anything else. That’s because it’s incomparable.

You can only imagine seeing a gigantic truck doing wheelies on the ground during a moment of freestyle. What about a long jump from one of the heaviest vehicles you’ve ever seen? Maybe you like seeing a driver floor it and spin a truck around and around until your eyes get blurry. Maybe you want to see two giant trucks collide? Maybe you want to see how many gigantic trucks one Monster Truck can jump as it flies off a ramp?

What may surprise you is just how loud it can be. The noise can be deafening to the naked ear. Some may decide to just tough it out. Others may opt for ear protection which is generally recommended. Kids definitely should wear something to reduce the extreme noise levels. If you are prepared, the show can bring smiles to the faces for people of all ages. What do you need to take to make sure you can truly enjoy the festivities? Here is a list of what you can bring to a monster truck show.

Noise Reduction Devices

Ear plugs and headphones are a great idea. This is always true if you are seated in the lower levels of the arena. It can still be very loud even in the upper tiers of the arena. That means it’s probably going to be as loud or louder than any concert you’ve ever attended. You can probably compare it to an airshow in terms of the sound levels. The music that is played is also at a pretty high level. The main noise though comes from the actual Monster Trucks. You are allowed to bring in ear protection. You can take ear buds, plugs, muffs or headphones.

Sharpies For Autographs

You’ll be able to purchase souvenirs before and after the event of your favorite truck and/or driver. You might also be able to get an autograph on those souvenirs. Maybe you’ll buy a shirt. There might be a miniature truck available to purchase. Maybe you’ll want a hat or a poster. You or your children might want a way to commemorate the event and memory. A signed piece of memorabilia is a great way to accomplish that goal. Having a sharpie to get signatures is always a great idea in case the drivers don’t have them on hand. A sharpie allows you get a signature in ink that will stay in tact. You can frame a poster or picture and hang it up.

Wear Gear Of Driver/Truck To Event

You might already be a fan of the event before you attend. You may have shirts or gear to wear to the event. You can also shop online to find Monster Truck related clothing to wear. Most of the drivers have their own pages with shops to purchase items. You can be completely prepared or buy items once you arrive.
You’ll see plenty of spectators wearing other auto sports related clothing at the event. Fans of Monsters Trucks are usually fans of racing and high powered vehicles in general.

Bring Knowledge Through Research

Maybe you want to know which Monster Truck to root for? How can you figure out the story line behind each truck or driver? How can you know which truck has jumped the longest distance? How can you figure out which truck has the most horsepower? Which one weighs the most? You can do a little research on the event before attending. There are a plethora of videos on YouTube to browse through. There are tons of news stories from the visits to other cities. There are biographies on each team and truck on their individual homepages. The Monster Truck series has a storied history with many successful drivers and vehicles. Bringing a little knowledge will help you pinpoint which truck you may want to cheer for from the start. It’s certainly an event you can still enjoy even if you’ve never seen or heard of any of the trucks before. Maybe you’ll find your favorite in your first live event.

Visit The Meet And Greet Earlier In The Week

There is typically a meet and greet appearance in town a few days before the actual event for promotions. It allows you to get to know the driver, ask questions, and get autographs. It also allows you to peak at the size of the truck before you ever reach the arena. It’s genuinely hard to tell just how amazingly large each Monster Truck is from your seat in the arena. A down low glance looking skyward helps you appreciate the monstrosity that each truck brings to the table. It’s only then you can perhaps appreciate what kind of power these drivers are taming as they jump, roll and crash.

Flags For Cheering

A Monster Truck can be a very patriotic event. Spectators may hold up and wave an American flag. They may also sport flags with trucks of their favorite drivers or trucks. It allows them to show support of the team they are rooting for. You will notice many of the Monster Trucks have their own flag in the truck bed. Those may also be available for purchase in the souvenir shop.

Change Of Clothes

Fans sitting in the lower levels of the arena might get splattered a bit by dirt and mud. It’s quite possible you would need a change of clothes if your plans include going to a different location following the event. Perhaps you are going for dinner. Perhaps you are visiting someone. Monster Trucks have been known to throw a little mud from the event surface onto the fans from time to time. Most seats in the arena will be too far away from any such backlash.
It still might be a good idea if you’re sitting close to the bottom. You might also bring a change of shoes if you plan to walk on the event surface. Some spectators are allowed to do that before or after with certain passes. The surface could get your shoes a bit dirty.

Cushions To Sit On

A Monster Truck event always provides an amazing show. You should be prepared to be sitting or standing for long periods of time. It’s not a bad idea to bring a cushion or soft blanket to sit on. Sitting for long periods of time can certainly have an impact on your body. Some arenas may be cold and some may be warm. Jackets and coats might not be a bad idea if it’s already cold outside.

Clear Out Room On Phone For New Video

You’ll most likely want to capture many of the moments from the Monster Truck events on camera. Many people have a phone with great video technology these days. It might not be a bad idea to clear out some room so you can add some new videos of the fabulous leaps and in-air destruction you may see. You can delete old and useless videos and photos so you don’t run out of room once you start recording. Most of us want to capture that one dramatic moment. The Monster Truck event is so visual it will make you bring out your camera from the moment you arrive.

A Sense Of Humor

Many of the things the Monster Truck drivers accomplish are amazing feats. They also can show off a keen sense of humor. Some of the acts between each Monster Truck race are also meant to delight and entertain fans. It isn’t all serious racing. Much of the racing is meant to be pure fun for fans in attendance. The ultimate goal is for fans to really get an incredible show. It’s important that fans understand the environment is intended to be safe and friendly.

Those are just a few tips on what to bring for your first Monster Truck show. The most important recommendation will always be protection for your ears. It will undoubtedly help you enjoy the live show. You won’t have ringing in your ears immediately afterwards. You’ll just have fond memories of the heart stopping trucks that drive fast, tumble well, and bring great moments of joy for all those in attendance.
